I don't know but they are worth every one of them
I have never had that problem and I've been going there sinc I was a young girl, probably 5o years
Such an amazing gem! Don’t be in a rush if you go here but it is totally worth the wait.
If you want small town nostalgia and good prices and food.... You cannot go wrong here!
GREAT place to eat takes me back in time eating here
I love Mugs-Up. They have been here for over 50 years and have the best root beer ever. The loose meat sandwiches are so good and the root beer floots are to die for. I remember as a little girl it was something special to go there with my family and get one. So glad there still there.
Love this place! The food is so good and isn't expensive at all! They are always quick and they have the best onion rings! Also I am not a rootbeer fan but if you are they make thier own.
Been the BEST since 1956!! If you've never been, you're missing out!!
Mugs up has quickly become one of our go to places to eat. The food is great, rootbeer floats are outstanding. Staff is always friendly! Overall one of our favorite places!
1970s menu, tastes, and prices. I can't believe it's still here. Nice!
Awesome hidden gem in Independence. Great made to order food.
Love Mugs-Up! The BBQ beef sandwich and an orangaroo always delicious! Fast, friendly service, hot and fresh food.
Love it! I am so full. Love that this place is still rocking the drive up. Great friendly waitress gave us good recommendations. The prices are so affordable! All fresh made. Delicious rootbeer!
Best car hop best burgers. Been going there 45+ years
Homemade rootbeer!! Awesome rootbeer floats! Different kind of burger but so good!!
Homemade root beer served in a frosty mug or in a to-go cup. There have delicious root beer floats (black cows) and orange soda floats (orangaroos). Loose meat burgers similar to Maid-Rite burgers. They also have great hot dogs. Carhop drive-in experience. Excellent prices. Closed on Sundays. They accept both cash and cards.
A wonderful ode to the past of America with interesting homestyle foods and extremely friendly staff. While my order was being created, the burrito broke in half and the woman who took my order came out of the building specifically to let me know there was a slight hold up and that is a wonderful gesture of kindness on her part.I would recommend Mugs Up to anyone who enjoys traditional American food and has a knack for the past as it is a great display of both of those things.
Best loose meat burgers hands down. Don't forget the root beer!
LOVE this place soooooo much! Been coming here since I was 5 (I'm now 51), and plan on being a loyal customer for at least another 46 years!!!
My first experience with mugs up yesterday and I was surprised at how tasteless everything that was. The hot dogs are boiled, no snap to them at all& no flavor, loose meat sandwiches are tasty but the buns are just too much and the homemade root beer was way to licorice e for most people's pallets I won't be returning. But the stop was very pleasant and helpful and friendly
I love mug style root beer, and when the virus clears up enough, I'll be getting me one! Food ain't to bad either! Another mom & pop place, that has survived the onslaught of burger, and other fast food giants, and while some of those places, went under, Bill and Ann's Mugs Up,has stood the test of time, and are,(I think) the last,or at the very least, one of the last Mugs Up drive-in's left standing in the metro! Givem a visit, and decide for yourself!
Love this place!! Their rootbeers never disappoint me.
Cheap and delicious! Homemade root beer is amazing!
My server Bradley was very attentive and curtious...even took the time to explain what everything on the menu was...
I love this place. Old school carhops take your order at your car and bring your food out. The whiz burger is my favorite loose meat sandwich ever.
Drove from Prairie Village to get a zip burger. Was not disappointed but did miss this frosted mug root beer. Still root beer was fine in a styrofoam glass. Also the jumbo corn dogs are a nice touch. Surprised to see them so busy at 3:30 in the afternoon a good testimony I guess.
I will proudly say that out of all the many restaurants that me and my mom ever went to and that's what we enjoyed to do small road trips even if it in town or out this has and will always be MY MOST FAVORITE HAND'S DOWN, I love the fact that I can still enjoy the best old school dinner type food and still $ with a family of 5 and still don't have to rob the jar of change but I add to it, and that's buying each person 3 things each and a gal of Root beer the Best in town. I am just passing it down line. Hope they are able to do the same one day
Best zip burger and root beer! Don't miss out!
It's what they call a loose meat sandwich It tasted like a potted meat burger.🤢🤮.The prices were ok and the staff friendly enough. The food was not to my liking at all.
Usually I consider a somewhat rare trip to Mugs Up to be a presumed 5 star experience. Friendly, quick service and tasty loose meat sandwiches. And those were present, as usual, today. What dropped it to 4 stars was the fact that they raised their burger prices but didn't change the menu board. It wasn't a great deal of extra money, and I still would have eaten there, but it detracted a small bit from the 5 stars.
Love the chili whiz burgers! Fries always hot and the root beer is home made! Its carhop served and they are quick and friendly.
Great service and great food especially when needing that crumbly hamburger fix
First time here. Got the Zip Burger and loved it. Fries—hot and fresh. And the root beer? It’s been many years since I’ve had root beer like that. The parking lot is clean and the carhop was very nice. You’ve gotta go there!
Been going to this place since I was a kid. Awesome food. Old diner charm. Great wait staff. Check em out. 👍😎
This is a good hole in the wall, Independence little secret! I love this place! I dont have the time to go into details of how much I love this place, but their burgers and chili cheese fries are to die for! Then there is their homemade root-beer! If you eat there, you have to try their root beer in the frosted mugs!
Amazing burgers! Different in a great way! I recommend everyone try them at least once. Prices reasonable and service is great and friendly. I'll always crave a whiz burger
This place is a landmark. Been here forever. Their rootbeer is the best around. You can get it by the gallon. If you go to eat, get the frosty mug. Don't get it to go because it waters down. The zip burger is very unique. You have to try it. It's hard to explain. The deep fried burrito is good too. How can you go wrong with something deep fried 😁 The tots are average, not disappoint but there are other places much better. It's been years since I've been (way before Google reviews) I need to go back again soon.
Great drive in, great root beer
The food was excellent, and the service was good and friendly.
Take a step back to a simpler time and enjoy the atmosphere of yesteryear when carhops take your order and hand deliver your meal and hang the tray on the window and don't forget the in house made Rootbeer.
My mother and grandmother have been taking me here since I was a little girl. It's definitely something a little different from your average burger and I love it. Anytime I'm in town or close by I try to stop there.
Iconic and delicious! A must everytime I'm in town.
Reduced a half gallon of their root beer to about a half cup. Added it to a basic heavy cream and egg yolks ice cream base. It was fabulous
This is a delightful surprise! The prices are so so reasonable (so low you'll think it's a typo, or you'll question if you want to try it), but absolutely give them a try!!!!! Rootbeer was fantastic and so was the tenderloin sandwich! The service was wonderful, our carhop was so friendly, and it has a nostalgic feel of days long gone. Loved our lunch there!
Consistently good. Zip burger and black cow. Perfect lunch.
Pretty good but no frosty mugs right now
Everything is better with Velveeta! This place is new to me, but seems like it's a staple in Independence. The root beer is worth the drive and so is the service. Just the nicest staff working here to provide folks with delicious (and fresh) limeades, loose meat steamed burgers (aka: whiz burgers with their own zip seasoning), and 12 tots to go. It's charming in that nostalgic way, incredibly affordable, and definitely somewhere I'd go back to. Well done Mugs-Up!
Food was absolutely delicious! Definitely can be remodel or rebuilt, at the same time keeping the same retro style theme! Otherwise it just look like a dumpy building to work in!
Great small hometown burger and dog joint... That makes their own root beer! First visit this evening. It was so good we ordered a second round. Go here and get one of everything.
Good prices good food awsome service
Beautiful woman serving. Food is different but tasty.
If you have never tried Mugs-Up... GO! It's awesome 😉
